Marcel Pheiffer, Executive Chef and Proprietor

I originated from Victoria, BC. My extensive food and beverage experience began over twenty years ago in hotels in Victoria, where I established a passion for working with food and people. To further my experience and career in the restaurant business, I moved to Vancouver in 1989. Early experience with menu development occurred while being the Chef with the Mark James Group and later with the Rattlesnake Grill in Kitsalano. My experience led me to the Cactus Club Café where I took full advantage of the learning opportunities in a corporate company and was integral in menu testing and development as well as kitchen planning and design. At this time, I challenged my Red Seal to become a Chef. My reputation as a leader and creative chef resulted in my recruitment by the Rugby Beach Club, a very popular restaurant on West Broadway in Vancouver. With all these great experiences in my life, I was able to achieve my life long dream of opening and designing my own concept, “bluStone Bistro & Lounge” , where my creative and innovated ideas finally came true.

After a few short years running my own restaurant, I have a new found passion for catering and I have now started “Design by Desire Event Creations & Catering”. This is my own personal venture, which has given me the chance to really exercise my careful attention to detail, and strong sense of design and presentation. The art of food and entertaining is my passion. I believe a successful event goes beyond serving culinary delights. It requires ingenuity, creativity, and services that address the needs of a unique event. Customized menu, venue selection, theme and décor conceptualization, rentals, staffing, and entertainment are just a few of the details and services that we can arrange.
